Chapter 01

The situation

The family had never courted publicity. Photographs from a private occasion found their way into a magazine's photo gallery, then into newspapers and celebrity sites in several countries, each republishing its own selection. Social accounts and image hosts copied them again, and image search tied them to the family's names.

Business-news articles naming family members added to the footprint, so a search for any of them returned private photographs alongside it.

What we did

We located every copy we could find, from the original publications to resized image files, social posts and cached thumbnails, and worked each one to removal. Source first, so the images stopped existing where they were hosted, then search, so they stopped appearing for the family's names.

Chapter 03

The outcome

52 of the 54 items were removed, across magazines and newspapers in several countries, social accounts and image hosts. Two items, including a cached thumbnail, were still outstanding when the family closed the case.

What this shows private clients

Once a photograph is published, copies multiply fast, and each one needs dealing with. Families who value privacy are best served by acting early and quietly. Read about digital executive protection or talk to us in confidence.
