Audit, remove, verify

A footprint cleanup starts with discovery — the accounts and content you've forgotten are the ones that surprise you in a search. We inventory everything attached to your names, usernames and emails across platforms and archives, remove or lock down each item (deleting where possible, de-indexing where deletion isn't), and verify your search results reflect the cleanup. The result is a search page that shows what you choose to show.

When a cleanup becomes urgent

The trigger is usually a look-up you know is coming: a job search in a field that screens candidates hard, a promotion into a public-facing role, a security clearance or licensing review, a fundraise or acquisition where diligence will crawl every founder's history, a custody or immigration process, or simple life change — the person who posted that content at nineteen isn't the person being searched at thirty-five. The smartest clients clean up before the search happens, because content found by a screener is content you never got to contextualise.

The awkward truth about old content is that it reads without its era. Jokes, arguments and photos that were unremarkable in their year read very differently stripped of context on a screen in an HR office.

What can be deleted, and what has to be handled another way

Honest triage sorts a footprint into three piles. Content you control — your accounts, posts, profiles — deletes directly, though dormant accounts often require recovery or platform identity processes first. Content others posted about or of you moves through consent, privacy and platform-policy routes, with success depending on the content and the poster. Content on third-party sites, archives and scrapes is the craft pile: deletion requests, de-indexing, cache purges and archive-exclusion filings, applied in the right order so removing a source doesn't leave a cached ghost ranking in its place.

A small residue usually can't be deleted at all — and we say so at assessment. For that residue the goal shifts from erasure to irrelevance: de-indexed, buried, unfindable by any search a screener would actually run.

Order of operations, and keeping it clean

Sequencing matters more than people expect. Deleting a source before its cache is handled leaves the ghost; locking an account before harvesting its content list loses the map; scrubbing your name while your old usernames stay linked leaves a side door. Our process runs discovery to exhaustion first, then removals in dependency order, then search-layer cleanup, then verification against the searches that matter — your names, usernames, and emails, in web and image results.

A finished cleanup holds for as long as nothing new appears and nothing old resurfaces. For clients heading into sustained public visibility, light monitoring keeps the verified state from quietly eroding — a maintenance problem, not a second project.

Most cleanups complete inside four to eight weeks, with the discovery and easy-deletion phases moving fast and the third-party and archive work supplying the tail. You'll know at assessment which of your items sit in which phase.
