Ultimate Guide to Picking Sales Funnel Building Software.

Janaya Jensen • Oct 23, 2019

When it comes to internet marketing, the road to conversion is paved one step at a time. Without the right sales funnel to lead your audience down those steps, success is more a matter of luck than strategy.

Funnel marketing is the key to a successful approach to online marketing and there are some great software packages that can help you do just that.

When you know your customers, it’s much easier to automate your marketing with a pre-built funnel in place. Every step, from awareness to interest, evaluation, decision, and purchase can be optimised and systemised to offer the best chance of conversion.

Even after the purchase, sales funnel building software can help you make the reevaluation and repurchase phases more likely to keep the customer coming back.

What sales funnel building software does is tie together the common processes from phase to phase, including designing landing pages, setting up autoresponders, emailing, and maintaining sales accounts.

Keeping them in one centralised system means it much easier to nudge your target audience a little further down that path. Here, we’re going to look at which software can help you best do that.

What you should look for in Sales Funnel Building Software

Before making your choice, it’s essential to think about what goes into your decision-making process. There is a wide range of different sales funnel building software tools out there, as we will explore in the article, but not all of them are best optimised to the needs of every single customer.

Depending on your industry, skills, budget, and the components of your own sales funnel success, some may be better than others. Here are a few factors worth considering:

  • The price point: Affordability is crucial, and some packages get much more expensive the more your needs scale. Keep an eye out for those that offer a free trial, too, that allows you to get a closer look before making your decision.

  • Features you should be on the lookout for: There are a whole host common features that you should keep an eye out for. These include landing page design, auto-responder, newsletter template design, analytics reporting, A/B split testing and so on.

  • How well it meets your demands: Some funnel building software packages are designed to better fit the needs of administrators within certain industries who have a specific funnel that might not apply to others. We will also address who and what business the software works best for.

With those points in mind, it’s time to take a look at some of the best sales funnel building software out there, and which you should consider.

Kartra

This package features builders for landing pages, thank you pages, check out pages opt-in forms, video sales letters, help desk portals, with A/B testing functionality and analytics that allows you to test the effectiveness of each component.

One of the greatest strengths of Kartra Funnels and Campaigns is how well it integrates with the rest of the Kartra family of software. Dynamic funnels mean that customers can be automated through different “routes” based on the information they provide, such as in the sign-up form, leading them to the pages that have been shown to best meet their needs.

It’s a highly automated service helped out by great design that helps you integrate pre-made funnels, too.

Kartra comes with five price points. A $89 dollars a month, the starter package limits access to most functions. The silver, gold, platinum and diamond packages allow unlimited use of most features and increase how many contacts, emails, and domains you can manage. The cost $149, $299, $499, and $699 a month respectively. There’s a 14-day trial that costs only a dollar to sign up for, which is practically a free trial.

Kartra Funnels is a fit for businesses of all sizes, but the streamlined automation of sales funnels make it a particularly good pick for those who already use a host third-party software, like email marketing and payment gateway software.

The only downsides are that it gets more expensive the more you use it, doesn’t offer webinar tools, and it’s brand new, meaning there are no helpful user guides out there yet.

Convertri

This funnel software brings a host of helpful features. The page editor has a drag-and-drop function that makes it easy to pull content into pages at a click. AMP conversion makes it a good fit for responsive website design, as well.

Otherwise, it features page important, pop-ups, 2-step opt-ins, and A/B testing functionality. The WordPress integration is a rare feature that some may find particularly useful.

One of the biggest advantages of Convertri is how simple it makes the process of converting existing pages into a sales funnel strategy. If you already have the content there, then it’s a good fit for you.

What’s more, that WordPress integration makes it a great fit for WP-based websites, key for businesses that produce a lot of content, while the drag-and-drop editor means that perfecting pages and content is easier than ever.

There’s a completely free 14-day trial to help you get started, and the price plans are relatively low, with the Standard Plan, Pro Plan, and Agency Plan each priced at $199 a month.

The WordPress based nature of Convertri can be as much of a weakness as a strength. If your site isn’t WP-based, it might not be as helpful for you. As such, it’s not a great independent sales builder, but a well-made tool built for a specific job.

Landingi

A tool that focuses primarily on designing landing pages, like many of the best sales funnel builders, Landingi makes use of a click-and-drop editor that helps speed up the creation of new pages and content with no need for any coding skill.

It integrates with a wide range of tools, such as Hubspot, SalesForce, Shopify, Mailchimp, and other customer relationship management tools.

While all sales funnel software make that task of creating and managing sales funnels easier, Landingi does it especially well thanks to the free templates that can entirely skip the process of making your own.

While it’s not a complete sales funnel building package, the integration of the tools above means that it can easily fit into your overall process of managing that funnel yourself.

Landingi comes with a 14-day free trial period, as well as four subscription plans to choose from if you like it. These are the Create Plan, Automate Plan, Agency Plan, and White Label Plan, each on a monthly payment of $29, $49, $109, and $185 respectively

The disadvantage of it not being an independent sales funnel must be highlighted, however. That lack of centralization means that using Landingi is a little more work than other options. But for the low price point, it’s hard to argue with the utility that it does offer.

Instapage

Instapage is intuitive and incredibly easy to use, making it perfect for inexperienced designers who want to create professional quality but relatively simple landing page.

It features drag-and-drop page design tools, the ability to integrate with a host of other tools, and over 200 landing page templates that save you the effort of having to build your own pages from scratch.

Both the A/B testing functionality and analytics and graphics make it a lot easier to optimize your approach and find what best works, too.

As a trimmed down funnel builder without the sheer variety of features available through other platforms, it’s best suited for those who have already used other tools to build a majority of their funnel.

It’s great for newbies to landing page design, as well, making it relatively easy to set up a host of your own pages. It has a more extensive analytics and graphs feature than other competitors as well, with heatmaps and pixel tracking to offer even more insight on what works and what doesn’t.

The Core Plan of £129 per month or $99 if you sub annually are the only listed price points, with an enterprise plan which Instapage will quote for you directly. There’s also a 14-day free trial to get users started.

One of Instapage’s strengths is also its weakness. It’s not as comprehensive a funnel building tool as some of the other options featured here and requires you to integrate other tools to create that complete funnel.

ThriveThemes

Another funnel building tool designed primarily for WordPress-based websites, ThriveThemes includes its own software packages as well as plugins that are implementing within WordPress itself. As such, it’s best used by those businesses and websites using the content platform.

The Thrive Architect is their own version of the page builder, and is relatively simple, working with pre-built templates that include both pages and forms.

As well as the templates, there are a host of other free themes and plugins that allow for easy customisation. Like most of the best funnel builders, it also includes A/B testing functionality for landing pages, opt-in page and squeeze pages.

There are two levels of membership with ThriveThemes, The regular membership costs $30 per quarter or $19 per month while the agency membership costs $60 per quarter or $49 monthly.

Naturally, as it’s built with WordPress in mind, the disadvantage of this software package is that it can only be used with WP-based websites. Another downside is a lack of the necessary tools for managing leads.

Furthermore, there isn’t much in the way of automation, with a reliance on manual use of plug-ins and integrations to get the most out of the package.

ClickFunnels

One of the most comprehensive sales funnel building software packages out there, ClickFunnels is feature packed. Users can create landing pages, sales pages, webinars, online courses, autoresponders and manage sales scripts, affiliates and more.

As feature-packed as it is, it’s not lacking on good design either. Pre-built funnels mean you don’t have to build from scratch and drag-and-drop design means that putting the components of a page together is relatively easy. There’s further integration of third-party software with email marketing, webinar, and payment gateway tools, amongst others.

Simply put, ClickFunnels is for those who want to use every tool to their advantage to build a complete sales funnel from start to finish. It’s built for those who have the time and manpower they can set aside to make use of every feature on offer, which means it might be better suited for larger teams than a startup with a handful of people.

ClickFunnels comes with two price points, a $97 dollar a month Startup Plan, and a $297 per month Etison plan, which makes it just as cost effective as some of the less feature heavy tools on the list.

As feature-packed as it is, ClickFunnels requires a lot of learning to use. There are guides on creating sales funnels, internet marketing, and several of the tools offered in the package but it’s a time investment that requires some thought. The cost may be a little prohibitive for startups, but it’s not overly expensive compared to similar software.

Leadpages

Although not as comprehensive a sales funnel building software, Leadpages can play a vital role in your sales funnel. It’s a tool for creating sales pages and landing pages with a host of features to make it much easier.

This includes drag and drop design, a host of free templates, and features for building pop-up boxes and Facebook Ads to offer your site another way to collect lead. All of this comes with A/B testing functionality and the ability to incorporate email marketing, analytics, CRM and other software suites.

As such, Leadpages is best used by those who already have different parts of their sales funnels built up and simply need a page builder to complete it. Compared to other tools that offer page building features, however, this one is specifically built for sales pages.

Following a 14-day free trial, Leadpages users can sign up at one of three price points, a Standard plan at $37 a month, the Pro plan at $79 a month, and the Advanced plan at $321 a month.

Like other page builders featured here, it’s not a complete sales funnel builder and may lack many features that those looking for one may desire.

LandingLion

Another page building tool designed to work as part of the sales funnel building strategy, LandingLion comes with a host of features to make getting those pages ready all the easier.

This includes a range pre-made templates to choose from and drag-and-drop building tools to cut out a lot of the work. It also uses A/B testing with different versions of your page and integrates other apps like CRM tools and payment gateways.

Simply put, the low price of LandingLion, whether using the base plan or scaling, makes it one of the most cost-effective page builders featured here. As such, it’s a great tool for startups just learning about the sales funnel and looking for a tool that can help them put together the pages that play a key role in it.

What are those price points? For the Exploring plan, you have to pay nothing at all. The other, more extensive plans, the Launching, Growing, and Scaling plans cost $29 per month, $99 per month, and $249 per month respectively.

There are some downsides to LandingLion, of course. As a landing page creator, it works best as part of a more robust funnel building strategy rather than alone.

Furthermore, while it does have some integration options, it isn’t as comprehensive in that regard as others. However, for the price points listed, those cons may not have to be a deal breaker for small startups.

BuilderAll

Another one of the more comprehensive funnel building software suites, BuilderAll comes with a host of features to help you create and manage funnels all in one centralised place.

Those features include the drag-and-drop page builder, an app builder, membership site creation, animation creators and more. Not only does it have A/B testing but heatmaps and click maps to offer even greater optimisation potential.

It integrates with a range of third-party software and even offers sales funnel templates so you can customise whichever best fits your needs rather than having to build it for scratch.

Like ClickFunnels, BuilderAll is built for those looking for a truly complete funnel building strategy, with the time and ability to make use of all of the tools provided.

Smaller teams may not have the opportunity to make the most out of the full version, but there is a less feature intensive version that’s at an incredibly competitive price point.

The aforementioned price point is the monthly payments of $9.90 that you can sign up for through the web presence plan. Other plans include the Digital Marketing Plan at $29.90 a month and the Business Plan at $49.90 a month. There’s a 7-day free trial to help you try out all the features and help you decide which plan best fits your need.

While BuilderAll is a highly impressive tool, it has perhaps the steepest learning curve of all the software mentioned here. As feature-riddled as it is, the software is not built with new users in mind and may take some time to get used to.

Optimise Press

As the name implies, Optimise Press is another sales funnel building tool designed to be used with WP-based websites. It’s a page building tool, but one that has plenty of options, including landing pages, sales pages, webinar pages, membership site pages, opt-in pages and more, all with A/B testing capability. It’s also able to integrate with some third-party software like the majority of email marketing tools and payment gateways.

While the other WP-tools have their own unique software to be used alongside the site, all of Optimise Press’s tools as all used in WordPress itself, meaning it’s a tool best designed for those familiar with the CMS.

Like other page builders, it requires a few more tools to be integrated with it to be considered complete, but it offers more page building functionality than the rest of them.

There’s no free trial, but there is, however a one-time fee to use Optimise Press rather than a monthly fee. The plans are the Core plan, Publisher plan, and Pro plan at $97, $197, and $297 respectively.

The lack of a free trial may be a deal-breaker for some, while those who haven’t built their websites on WordPress will find little use out of this tool. Otherwise, it still needs a little integration with other tools to be considered a comprehensive sales funnel building package.

Unbounce

Like many of the other tools featured here, Unbounce is a page builder rather than a comprehensive sales funnel builder. It comes with drag and drop page design, a large roster of free templates to help save time, and a nice extra feature that allows you to create sticky bars and pop-ups to further convert users.

All of this works with A/B testing. Pages can be further optimised with automated text replacement that can help you swap out keywords on pages to make them more relevant to SEO and PPC marketing campaigns.

As such, Unbounce is most suitable for those who already have other tools taking care of evergreen sales funnel tools, like timers and webinars, which can be integrated with Unbounce.

There are three monthly fee pricing points for Unbounce. The Essential plan costs $79 a month, while it’s $159 a month for Premium and $399 for Enterprise.

Unbounce has a few nice features lacking on other page builders, but it still pricey and lacks sales automation features that some others have, however.

Which sales funnel build best suits your needs?

We’ve looked at a variety of tools, from those offering comprehensive sales funnel building features to page building tools that work better as part of a whole funnel building strategy.

Address your needs, which tools you’re already using, as well as which kind of site and funnel building strategies are part of your plan. From there, making your choice should be much easier, based on which has the features you need at a price point that fits.

If you own a business in today's modern world, you know that it's no longer a question of whether you have an online presence or not. It's now a matter of what that online presence is. You need to know how people perceive your brand and whether that perception matches the one you want established. It's not wise to just let things fall where they may when your online reputation is involved. Businesses can't just let other people determine what their brand is, they should be the one on top of it controlling the narrative.
